The Course: Overview
The course at Stornoway Golf Club is set amongst the woodlands of Lews Castle and rises out of these towards the moorlands to the west of the town. An undulating landscape presents the golfer with a course that demands a keen shot-making ability and a canny judgement of distances.
A good variety of up and down hill holes presented with some blind greens, mixed with a sprinkling of dog-legs makes the course a recipe for golfing triumphs and disasters in equal measure.
The combination of trees, heather and gorse make the course a picturesque one in its own right. On the higher parts of the course, however, the views are magnificent. Over the town, across Broad Bay, Tong and beyond to the mainland to the north-east. To the south across the moors and beyond to the mountains of Harris.
Detailed descriptions of individual holes may be found on this website, but you have to play it for yourself to really appreciate the intricate challenges this course offers.

A second win for the Macrae family in the week, following Sam’s win on Wednesday with James winning the Junior Edwin Alfred Trophy with a fantastic nett 58 😳 👏
Good to see 3 Juniors in the competition, the hope is that we’ll at least double these numbers by the end of the season

The lovely weather today brought out a full field for the Mens Alcan Trophy 🏆
Neal Mackay won today with a nett 64 👏
Titch had the lowest gross today with a fantastic gross 66 🤩
Norrie O had the first competition Hole in 1 this season on the 18th with his 3 iron 😳
In the Ladies Spring Stableford, Gaffer won her 2nd competition of the season with 31 pts but she’s still raging that she played the wrong ball on the 18th 🙄🤦🏻♀️
