Cabarfeidh Hotel – “Stornoway’s Finest Hotel” is just a couple of minutes walk from the 1st tee.
Braighe House – Five Star Guest House just 10 minutes from the club with superb views over the Minch to the Shiants and the Isle of Skye. Car hire and Golf Equipment available.
Castle View – Four star self catering accomodation in the centre of Stornoway with magnificient views of the Castle and only 5 miniutes walk from the golf course.
The course at Stornoway Golf Club is set amongst the woodlands of Lews Castle and rises out of these towards the moorlands to the west of the town. An undulating landscape presents the golfer with a course that demands a keen shot-making ability and a canny judgement of distances.

As is often the case, weather caused concerns for our open qualifying round on Day 1 but thankfully due to the hard work of Spoonyan, Cal and volunteers Derick, Colin, Martyn & Al Greens we did not have any delays. A big thank you from everyone and I’m sure Iain was delighted to return from his international duties on Monday to continue the great work and keep the course in tip top condition for the week, despite the varying conditions 😅🤩⛳️
Match & Handicap George & Martyn were kept busy all week with all the draws, match plays, requests for changes and new tee times, handled without many issues - many thanks 👍
It was a hectic week for the club staff assisted by Stephen after 2 raves and a hen doo to start the week 😅 They kept everyone fed and watered throughout the week and the club running smoothly. Fantastic menu and happy golfers each day, service with a smile 🥰
It’s been a while since we last had the club shop welcoming members and visitors, so it was amazing to have it open all week, from the first tee time on the opening day to the last, handing out the cards, last minute supplies and the chance to buy raffle tickets 🤷🏻♀️😂
Our main raffle prize this year was donated by John Cunningham of Car Hire Hebrides - thank you to John and the many others who donated prizes.
A huge thank you to the shop volunteers who make this happen and have done since the shop opened its doors in April 🥰
In all, the week was a great success. There are things we will look to improve on, but I think everyone had a great week.
Thank you to all the members who played and continually support the club and the visitors who travelled, some for the first time, others who come every year. Without you guys, this week wouldn’t happen.
